Art inspired by Picasso

During our art lessons this week we looked at Picasso's The Weeping Woman.

The Giraffes have had an incredibly positive start to year 3 and 4 and have worked hard throughout this long half-term. I am extremely proud of their behaviour and the effort they show every day.

This week we learnt about the artist Picasso and his style of art called Cubism. The children then went on to create their own portraits inspired by 'The Weeping Woman'.

They began by creating a mood board to inspire their later design choices. Step two was to experiment by drawing different facial features in the Cubism style. This enabled the children to go on to design their own portraits.

Finally, they created their final piece which they painted in bold colours. We had some fantastic lessons and the children's final pieces were excellent. A selection can be seen below.

It was lovely to speak to you all during our parents' evenings this week. Have a lovely half-term break and another massive well done to all the children for a brilliant first half-term.
