Flat File Databases
In ICT over the past 6 weeks we have been learning about Flat File Databases.
This ICT unit looks at how a flat-file database can be used to organise data in records. We have looked at how databases are used in school to record information. We started off by creating paper records and soon realised that these were difficult to keep and difficult to sort information from especially if the database held lots of records.
We used the tools within a database to order and answer questions about data. We then created graphs and charts from their data to help solve problems. We used a real-life database to answer questions, and present our work to others.
Here are some of the charts we made today to answer questions about the Titanic.
If you want to have a look at these databases at home here is the link we used:

Your Iguana should be able to show you all the different things we have used the database for.
