Persuasive speeches
Over the last 3 weeks we have been writing persuasive speeches linked to our topic 'Fragile Earth'.
We have spent the last 3 weeks learning about Climate Change in our topic lessons and have applied this knowledge to our writing lessons.
We looked at the features of persuasive speeches and found that persuasive speeches need the following features:
- personal and collective pronouns (I, you, we)
- emotive language (devastating, innocent, desperate)
- list of three
- repetition (repeating a point more than once makes it stick in the reader's mind)
- statistics/facts
- modal verbs (should, must, could)
- rhetorical questions (questions that don't need an actual answer.
