We have had some changes in school over the holidays and Mrs Phillips is now going to be in our class full-time now, which will be brilliant. 

We have started our new topic which is called Extreme Earth. We will be focusing on geography this term and learning all about volcanoes and earthquakes. 

Our PE days have stayed the same and are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - children are allowed to come to school in their kits on both days. 

In Reading Skills, our new book is The Nowhere Emporium by Ross MacKenzie, which we have already started reading. When the mysterious Nowhere Emporium lands in Glasgow, orphan Daniel Holmes stumbles upon it quite by accident. Before long, the 'shop from nowhere' – and its owner, Mr Silver – draw Daniel into a breathtaking world of magic and enchantment. 

Alongside reading skills, all children are asked to read regularly and quiz using Accelerated Reader. We ensure that time is given in class to allow children to read and quiz. We also visit the library to choose books and children can quiz on books from home. If a book doesn't have a quiz on Accelerated Reader, then we will devise a quiz so that they can quiz on these books as well. There will be a reading reward for children who meet their target word count by the end of the spring term.
