We are endeavouring to use our wonderful outdoor space as much as we can this year.

Research shows positive impact on children's learning when they have opportunities to learn outside... so that's what we are going to do!

So far, we have undertaken some maths tasks outside, consolidating our understanding of place value by representing numbers using natural resources.  This enabled pupils to apply what they already know about the number system to representing three digit numbers in an alternative way.  I was very impressed with the number of different ways they were able to do this!

 

Over the course of this year, I hope to give all pupils an opportunity to use the copse under adult direction to develop their curiosity and understanding of the world around them and problem solving skills.
