Maz Evans
On Monday 27th November 2023 we had an author visit online from Maz Evans.
We were lucky enough last Monday to have a visit from Maz Evans, author of 'Who Let the Gods Out' which is the book we are currently reading in our reading skills lessons. It was fascinating to listen to her talk about her books and the writing process.
We are able to ask her some questions too:
What is your favourite part of 'Who Let the Gods Out'?
The part where Elliot and Virgo go to Buckingham Palace. I won't tell you what happens in case you haven't got to that part yet.
How long does it take you to write a book?
It depends, there are 3 parts to the writing process. 1. Planning, 2. Writing and 3. Editing. I tend to write quite detailed plans, so they take a long time, but the writing part is then much quicker. Some of my books have taken only 3-4 months to write and others have taken me over a year.
What is your favourite book in the whole world?
The Twits by Roald Dahl. I also enjoy dressing up as Mrs Twit on World Book days.
What was your first book?
My first book was called 'Elliot and the Immortals'. I couldn't get a publisher so I self-published it. Then after several years I managed to find a publisher and they re-issued the book as 'Who Let the Gods Out'.
