Art inspiration
We have been busy this week looking at the artist Elizabeth Blackwell.
Elizabeth Blackwell (1707-1758) was a botanical illustrator. She drew many pictures of herbs and plants. We looked at her work and first we created a mood board. What pictures we liked and why, what colours we like, what flowers we thought were nice to draw. The idea of the moodboard is to help us to plan and think about what our final piece of work might look like. Here they are hard at work.
We then thought about line and tone and had a go at hatching and cross hatching using pencils, graphite pencils, pens and charcoal. We would use these techniques in our final piece of work.
Finally, we practised drawing plants and flowers before choosing the one we would do for our final piece. Here are some of them. Great job!
In maths this week we have been practising adding, subtraction, multiplication and division ahead of the SATS next week.
In literacy we have looked at more giant stories and written book reviews as well as thinking about suffixes.
