New term and hopefully a successful blog
What will we be up to this half term?
The Dolphins had a brilliant start to the new school year last term, I am very excited to see the children back in school after their well deserved break.
This term we will be submerging ourselves into the past - 1666 and the Great Fire of London. The children will become reporters and create their own headlines and write a recount showing their understanding of past tense. We will compare today's London with the London of 1666 and discuss why the fire managed to stay alight for 5 days. This will also be discussed in our Science lessons on materials and their properties. The children will become modern day firefighters and look at the fire engines and equipment used in 1666 compared to today.
Maths - We are finishing subtraction and will look at fact families to show the commutative and inverse. Towards the end of term is measurement.
Art - We will discover Christopher Wren the architect that helped to rebuild St Paul's Cathedral after the Great Fire. Using collage skills, we will create the stain glass windows found in the Cathedral.
